Normandy is the most practical destination in France for a couple with an international guest list. Ninety minutes from Paris, an hour from the ferries, and manor houses with enough lawn for two hundred people.
The country
Half-timbered manors in the Pays d’Auge, stone farms around Creully, and the water gardens at Giverny. The light is softer than in the south and it lasts longer in the evening — a photographer’s advantage that Normandy rarely gets credit for.
Why it works for guests
Paris guests drive out in the morning and back the same night if they want to. International guests fly into Paris and make one short transfer. Neither has to give up a full weekend, which changes who is able to come.
Coverage
Documentary and unhurried. Normandy weddings tend to spread out over a long afternoon, and the frames I care about come from the edges — the smoking corner, the kitchen door, the last table still talking.

Is Normandy close enough for a one-day wedding?
Yes. Ninety minutes from Paris means guests can travel in the morning and back at night, which is rare for a French destination wedding.
Do you arrive the day before?
For a venue I do not know, yes, when the schedule allows. It costs one night of accommodation and removes every timing risk.
Can you cover a church ceremony?
Yes. Many Normandy churches forbid flash and restrict movement during the ceremony — I check the rules with the parish beforehand.
