To me, photographing a wedding means capturing the fleeting moments that arise between the people who bring the day to life. It also means conveying the atmosphere and the colors of the day. I take particular care to highlight the details that make up the celebration, and I am committed to capturing not only the powerful moments but also the unexpected, characterful scenes that define a wedding.
I work in the form of a photo-reportage, which means that almost none of the photographs are posed. To achieve this, I work discreetly and unobtrusively, so that the images, the scenes, the expressions and the emotions stay natural. This calls for constant observation and the ability to capture moments the instant they arise. My experience in wedding reportage also lets me sense the meaningful moments before they happen and be technically ready to seize them. A wedding day is full of important moments, of emotion, of offbeat or funny scenes, and of moments of grace.
The great majority of couples tell me they are not “photogenic.” It is a remark I hear again and again, and it reassures me every time. Being photographed for an entire day is unusual, and for most couples it has simply never happened before. Their real fear is not looking natural. Yet it is precisely with people unused to the camera that one captures the most beautiful, most natural expressions. On the day, emotion and events follow one another very quickly, and my presence soon fades into the background. The couple forgets me almost at once, which leaves me free to capture every spontaneous, natural image.
These, in a few words, are the ingredients that will let me tell your story.
