Granite, tide, and light that changes every twenty minutes

Brittany is where I have family roots and where I have photographed more weddings outside the Paris region than anywhere else. It is also the only place in France where the weather can hand you four seasons before the dinner.

        Coastal wedding in Brittany

        The two coasts

The Morbihan gulf in the south — Le Bono, Vannes, the islands — is sheltered, warm and green. The Emerald Coast in the north, around Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer and Dinard, is harder and more dramatic: granite, big tides, long horizons.

        How a Breton wedding runs

Rarely formal, and almost always outdoors at some point in the day whatever the forecast promised. Marquees are standard. Dinners run late and the dancing runs later.

The tide matters more than couples expect: a beach that is perfect at six can be underwater at eight. I check the tide tables before every coastal wedding.

        Travel and coverage

Three hours from Paris by TGV. For anything beyond three hours I arrive the day before, which removes the risk of a delayed train and lets me see the venue in your light.

Transport at cost plus one night, written into the quote before you sign. Coverage starts at €2,900. More on destination weddings.

        Frequently asked questions

How are travel costs calculated for Brittany?

Transport at cost plus one night of accommodation. There is no per-kilometre surcharge on top, and everything is written into the quote.

Do you photograph two-day Breton weddings?

Often. A Friday welcome dinner and a Sunday brunch are part of the story, and multi-day coverage is quoted as a whole.

        What happens if it rains?

We shoot anyway. Rain in Brittany is not an incident, it is a texture — and every venue there has a covered plan.
