I am a photographer of weddings and of life's happiest days!
I live just outside Paris, in Colombes, and I come from Brittany. I studied photography at the École des Gobelins, then made my first images through street photography — a genre I am particularly fond of, because it gave me a taste for fleeting, unexpected scenes. That is how I became passionate about wedding reportage; it offers, all by itself, a succession of powerful emotions and unexpected moments.
To me, photographing a wedding means capturing the fleeting moments that pass between the people at the heart of the celebration. It also means conveying the atmosphere and the colours of the day. I take particular care to highlight the details that make up this great day, and I am devoted to catching its strongest moments as well as the picturesque scenes that give every wedding its character.
I work in the form of a photo-reportage: this means that almost none of the photographs are posed. To achieve this, I work discreetly and unobtrusively, gathering natural images, scenes, expressions and emotions. It demands constant observation and the ability to capture moments the instant they arise. My experience of wedding reportage also lets me sense the interesting moments coming, and be technically ready to seize them. A wedding day is filled with important moments, emotions, unusual or funny scenes, and moments of pure grace.
Most couples confess to me that they are not « photogenic ». The remark comes up every time — and every time it reassures me! Being photographed for a whole day is not an ordinary experience, and for most couples it has simply never happened before. What engaged couples really fear is not looking natural. Yet it is precisely with people unaccustomed to the camera that one obtains the most beautiful, most natural expressions. On the day itself, emotions and events follow one another so quickly that my presence soon becomes entirely secondary. The couple forgets me very quickly — and that is how I am able to capture all those spontaneous, natural images.
